SCRUB's advocacy efforts have been primarily focused on three major issues: outdoor advertising, taxpayer standing, and protecting parkland. These issues represent the importance of the public's voice in all efforts to preserve and protect the public space. SCRUB is best known for its success in defending public spaces from illegal outdoor advertising. This work has given SCRUB first hand knowledge of the importance of the rights of Philadelphia citizens and community groups to challenge decisions made by the Zoning Board of Adjustment in cases where neighborhoods are negatively impacted, therefore SCRUB is vigorously trying to reclaim the right of taxpayer standing in Philadelphia. Lastly, our parks are our most precious public assets and will continue to need strong advocates, like SCRUB, to protect and preserve them.
